Microsoft Fabric · OneLake · Power BI

Microsoft Fabric, done right.

Fabric brings lakehouse, pipelines and Power BI onto one platform. We introduce it so that data models and reports are still maintainable in two years – certified, with project experience from mid-sized companies and enterprises.

Positioning

When Fabric is the right choice.

01

Power BI team in a Microsoft environment

Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Power BI are set, the team knows Power Query and DAX. Fabric adds lakehouse, pipelines and OneLake without a break in tooling.

02

Reporting from Excel and Access

Monthly reports from export files, macros and copies. Fabric replaces that with traceable load processes and one data model that feeds every report.

03

Grown Data Factory and Synapse pipelines

Many pipelines, little overview. We consolidate in Fabric, document and train the team that runs the platform afterwards.

And when rather Databricks? For complex engineering workloads, multiple clouds or many teams on large data volumes – more under Databricks consulting. Often the combination is the right answer.

Services

How we help with Microsoft Fabric.

01

Rollout and structure

Set up workspaces, capacities, domains and permissions so they grow with the company.

  • Workspace and domain concept
  • Capacity planning and cost frame
  • Permissions and approval processes
02

Lakehouse and warehouse

OneLake as shared storage, Delta tables in a medallion structure, a warehouse where SQL teams work.

  • Bronze, silver, gold in Fabric
  • Historisation and merge logic
  • Shortcuts instead of copies
03

Pipelines and orchestration

Load processes with Data Factory in Fabric, notebooks and dataflows – with schedules, dependencies and error handling.

  • Connecting ERP, CRM, files and APIs
  • Orchestration and monitoring
  • Restart without manual work
04

Power BI and Direct Lake

Semantic models directly on the lakehouse, without import copies, with clear metric definitions.

  • Semantic models and report architecture
  • Direct Lake where it holds – import where needed
  • Metrics defined once, the same everywhere
05

Data quality and governance

Rules and tests in the load processes, documentation that business units can read.

  • Quality rules and checks
  • Documentation of sources and metrics
  • Responsibilities per domain
06

Migration and enablement

From Excel, Azure Data Factory or Synapse to Fabric – and training for the team that runs the platform afterwards.

  • Inventory and migration plan
  • Structured training for developers and business units
  • Handover with documentation
Credentials

Certified for Fabric and Azure.

Microsoft

Two Microsoft certifications

  • Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203)
Databricks

For hybrid scenarios

  • Databricks partner (Bronze tier)
  • Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional and two further Databricks certifications

All credentials with their exact names are on the About us page.

Food franchise

Fabric instead of Excel reporting

ETL pipelines in Microsoft Fabric with data modelling and orchestration, consolidation of heterogeneous sources, load processes across lakehouse and warehouse components, data quality and governance.

  • Role: lead data engineer
  • Microsoft Fabric: lakehouse, warehouse, pipelines
  • Power BI
Metering services provider

Cloud migration with enablement

Support for migration and redesign of data processing, structured training on Azure Data Factory, Data Flows, Logic Apps and Azure DevOps, answering architecture and implementation questions.

  • Role: consultant, data engineer
  • Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory
  • Logic Apps, Azure DevOps
Wind energy group

Redesign as a data mesh

Analysis of the existing data processes and infrastructure, design and implementation of a data mesh architecture with Databricks and Fabric, alignment of domain boundaries with the business units.

  • Role: lead data engineer
  • Azure, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric
  • Data mesh

We do not name customers. All projects are on the About us page.

Combination

Fabric and Databricks together.

Delta tables are the shared basis: Databricks takes on the engineering, Fabric with OneLake and Power BI the reporting – without duplicate data. In a wind energy group we combined both platforms in a data mesh architecture.

Process

How the collaboration starts.

01

Intro call

30 minutes: which reports do you need, where does the data come from, who works with it? Afterwards both sides know whether Fabric fits.

02

Target picture and plan

Workspace structure, data model and migration plan with alternatives, risks and costs – you decide based on facts.

03

Delivery with your team

Build in stages, first reports live early, training along the way. Code, documentation and knowledge belong to you.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Microsoft Fabric

Do we need Fabric if we already have Power BI?

Not necessarily. If your reports come from a few clean sources, Power BI with import is often enough. Fabric pays off once load processes, historisation and several data sources come into play – then it replaces Excel staging, scripts and copies with one platform.

Can we replace our Excel reporting?

Yes. We take the existing reports as the template, build the load processes and a data model in Fabric and rebuild the reports in Power BI. The business units check in parallel until the figures match. That is how we did it for a food franchise.

Microsoft Fabric or Databricks?

Fabric is usually the faster entry for Power BI-oriented teams in a Microsoft environment, Databricks the more robust choice for complex engineering workloads and multiple clouds. We assess both for your case – including the combination.

Do you migrate Azure Data Factory or Synapse to Fabric?

Yes. We take stock of the existing pipelines, consolidate them in Fabric and train your team along the way. For a metering services provider we supported the migration and redesign of data processing with structured training on Data Factory, Data Flows, Logic Apps and Azure DevOps.

What does Microsoft Fabric cost?

Microsoft licenses Fabric as capacity; the right size depends on data volume, refresh frequency and number of users. We help with sizing. Our consulting is billed by time and materials, and you know the rate up front.

Do you work with our internal team?

Yes, preferably. We build together, document and hand over so your team can develop the platform further without us. On request we also take on project responsibility.
